Gaping Mic Night, part 1

Gaping Mic Night, part 1

Gonna get me on a list somewhere...

Here's what bothers me about the London Bombings.

First off, the people supposedly responsible call themselves the Secret Organization of Al-Qaida in Europe. A very public attack for a secret organization. Al-Qaida? Awesome. It's almost as if the name was tailored to inspire fear in the soundbyte culture of the west. But no one has ever done that before.

Second, apparently Britain had no intelligence about the attack. Really. I guess it follows that neither did America, since we're such good friends, right? Did they have an intelligence failure? Did we? In this day and age?

Third, it comes at a good time, with the world watching Britain, the G8 conference, and so on. Now they'll be talking about Iraq and the War on Terror, forget about African relief, and there will be a new push to propagandize the effort to force democracy on the Middle East.

Fourth, Blair's statements after the attack sound eerily like Bush's after 9/11. "Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilized nations throughout the world."

Fifth, what kind of extremist Islamic group misquotes the Quran?

If it wasn't the British government, it was us.

On a lighter note, for anyone who has ever wanted to chainsaw Deadites on the walls of Camelot, your time has come. I can't say that it's good. I can't say that it should ever be played. But that it exists makes me want to light myself on fire. In a joyous way. With joy.
