DWL - The Beginning

DWL - The Beginning

He's Got It Right, He's Got A Better Life Coming...

Dinosaurs With Lasers is Tyler Mason's epic tale of the struggle between thunder lizards with superior technology and mankind wielding powerful magic. Or so he says. I'll be running the first five comics of the series in place of my regular stuff, while my tablet is in the shop. It's not up anywhere else on the net, as the first five are all that is done, and he's not divulging to the public when the rest will be done, or where he'll be hosting them. So enjoy it, it's all you get for now!

First day of classes was yesterday (as I write this), and it went swimmingly. Met some nice folks, enjoyed the first installments of what is bound to be the most pleasant school year of, at least, the last five years. My homework is manageable, if I can get over this wave of the exhaustions. Something you may not know about me, but I complain of being tired a lot. Lately, it's due to the perverse pleasure my cat takes in doing laps around my room and on all of the furnishings therein from 2AM to 5AM. I try to tire her out by playing with her, but before the witching hour, the best she will give me is a glare of disparaging indifference. The moment my head hits the pillow, though, BAM! Someone sets a firecracker off in her ass and she rockets around the apartment, knocking over at least three things in her race against her imaginary cheetah ancestors.

Remember that article about the Gideons sending Bibles to the Superdome, looking at this as a rare opportunity to do 'the Lord's work'? Looks like the military thought it was such a good idea, they decided to do it themselves. After all, 10,000 black people in squalid conditions, they have training manuals for stuff like this. It's like shooting ducks in a barrel. Or perhaps I should say, shooting looters in a disaster area. At least there are some calls for action (among other calls) over this wretched farce. If you can believe a politician. I'm inclined to believe Obama. I really like his stance on education and he seems to say a lot of things I agree with. But at the same time, he's in politics. It's his job to say things people want to hear, but not necessarily to do those things. So grain of salt.

And now for things that bewilder and entertain me. Mother! Tell your livestock not to walk my way. Also, supposedly, this is a real commercial in Hong Kong. Dunno if I credit that. Don't know if I care. It's fucked up enough to entertain me. Reminds me of the film Ichi the Killer.

Last thing, really. I got to see Sufjan Stevens last night at the Somerville Theater, up here in the MetroBostonSprawl. A mighty fine show that ended with a birthday song for their bassist (serendipitous, as it was also my brother's birthday, and he was at the show, and he too plays the bass, among other things) and a well earned standing ovation. The kind of show that makes you wish you had paid more for the ticket.
