Another One Bites The Dust

It's finally happened, leaving us wide open and vulnerable to this kind of garbage. So, not only is George unhinged and detatched from reality, but he is now looking to place a sexist right winger in the highest judicial seat in the country. George's Reich marches on.

I keep reading horrific things about the Superdome, people with bodies rotting next to them, piles of excrement knee high because there's no other place for it, rapes or women, and worse, children. But I'm not going to link to them. If you really want to read about them, find them yourself. I'm the kind of person who watched the videos of terrorists beheading reporters and contractors, just to inure myself to the horror, since I sense this is just the begining of the Bad Days. Not to become jaded, but to be aware that this is reality. No filters. No flinching. I want to stare reality in the face, and see if my morality, my convictions, my beliefs in a better way and a better world can hold up. It's my dark place, my battle with what I know in my core but am afraid to face. I need to read these things to understand my world, my species, my civilization. But you don't. So if you're like me, you've likely already read these horrific accounts, or worse. If you're not, I do not begrudge you your rose colored glasses, nor will I try to rip them from you.

In other, less histrionic news, I have an idea clanging around my skull cavity for a graphic novel. Actually, it's an idea I had some time ago, done research on, then never did anything with. Set aside, I believe is the slacker's way to justify this sort of passing obsession. I set it aside, with the self-deception that I would return to it some day and forge it into a complete work. Comically, I have. I'm as shocked as anyone that this wasn't just lost behind my dresser, to be the domain of cobwebs and dustbunnies.

It's a weird western, focusing on figures of some historical or folk-lore-ical value. Pioneers and mediums, mutants and tomes, but most of all, dust and spurs. For influences, see Red Dead Revolver. See Jonah Hex. See the Dark Tower. See a western. See Lovecraft. More specifically, see the Doom That Came To Gotham.

Also, Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Alex and my nephew Aiden (who is one year old now, and the man).
