The Adventures of Stan and Todd: Part 1

The Adventures of Stan and Todd: Part 1

I had stuff to say...

But now I hear that the man named Zarqawi is dead. Killed in an American air strike on his safe house. The strike killed five other people, including a woman and a child. I feel bad for the child.

The 'insurgents' are saying Zarqawi was gifted with martyrdom. Someone raised a really interesting point. We are fighting a group that turns the death of one of their leaders into a reason to rejoice and recruit. So much the opposite of the way we think of war here in the West. It's a hydra. Strike down one head, and two more will grow in its place.

That news put me in a weird head space. I mean, aside from the obvious ramifications, this is really good news for Bush and his cronies, when even large chunks of his base disapprove of his handling of Iraq. Now all we'll hear on Fox for the next month is self-congradulatory retrospectives and political grandstanding.

Victory of good over evil? Well, we have to check and be sure that A) it's a victory, and B) we're actually good. I'm not saying that terrorist murderers are good guys, far from it. But just because we oppose them doesn't make us good.

I dunno. When rich men rejoice, I have somber thoughts.
