DWL - Fine in a Vacuum

DWL - Fine in a Vacuum

Still Waiting

No tablet yet. I'm torn between a desperate yearning for it and a powerful self-loathing for being so dependent on it. Belph is inexorably tied to the tablet. He was created on it. He's only been drawn without it about 8 times, and none of them to my satisfaction. No word yet from Wacom if any progress has been made, either. I just have to be patient.

In the meantime, Tyler Mason's Dinosaurs With Lasers series continues, and the epic tale of humanity's rise against the reptiles unfolds before you.

In personal news, I've been hard at work at school. I'm starting to feel comfortable with the life style, though the work load is still taking some getting used to. I'm struggling to afford both school supplies and rent, but these are the challenges by which one can measure one's worth, or something equally character building. The governmental situation has nearly reached the point where even I can't rant about it. I question whether this is all just farce put on to see how much America will believe.

Bush is putting forth a plan to rebuild NOLA. He expects the federal government to cover the costs of rebuilding. He says that congress has granted $60 billion, which is true. It is estimated that the rebuilding will cost $200 billion. Our deficit for 2005 is $300 something billion. He expects this won't effect our deficit. He says this can be done without raising taxes. He says we must cut all unnecessary spending. While balancing our other priorities (I think it's safe to read this as "Iraq").

Ahem. CUTTING DOMESTIC SPENDING IS EXACTLY WHAT GOT US INTO THIS DISASTER YOU INBRED HICK MORON.

This, and his seeming belief that only religious congregations and people were openning their homes to the evacuees... Why must we have an evangelist in the White House?

Also, check out FactCheck.org's timeline of events for Katrina, if you want to know just how this whole thing got bungled so bad.

Also, this article chills me to the bone. The power to abduct and detain political dissenters without trial or charge is one of the cornerstones of an Orwellian dystopia. That, and perpetual wars that galvanize nationalism at home and jsutify massive military spending.

Grumble.
