The Fall Of The Fourth Wall

The Fall Of The Fourth Wall

Lack of Sleep Drives Me Home

I've been staying up late this week, every night. Later than I should. But I feel pretty good, so I'm not about to complain. I think I'm just excited about going to school, spreading my wings and soaring with all the other night owls, leaving these morning tit mice (tit mouses?) behind. Ignoring the fact that owls are solitary avians, which, while a fascinating ornithological factoid, is irrelevant to my metaphor.

The San Diego Comic Con is over and I am lamenting that I could not go. One of my favorite webcomic artists got involved in an interesting story about webcomics in Wired Magazine. It kinda makes webcomics look like a dying pack animal, diseased and dehydrating, and only good for the hide. For Scott Kurtz's side of the story (a lot less bleak), go here. You may have to scroll down to the entry titled 'Spitting in the Wind'. The way Wired handled this reminds me of the way the news media is handling a kooky little secret in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I'm not so bothered at their uproar as the fact that Walmart and Target are pulling it from their shelves despite the fact that it's clearly labeled M for 'mature' and is not to be sold to persons under 17. Calm the hell down, people. If Walmart continues to sell Basic Instinct on DVD, there's no reason not to sell GTA:San Andreas. Unless they are PR minded pussies.

More on the video game front, this little rumor gave me heart palpitations for a good ten minutes. Shadowrun for the XBox 2 might force me to break my boycott on Microsoft products. Maybe I can steal one, or buy a stolen one, thus circumventing my vow not to give those sons of bitches my money.

Remember the election, when Ohio was a ridiculous clusterfuck of inefficiency, record discrepancy and outright prejudice? It's a good thing nobody was taking bribes or anything, or my deep and abiding love for Karl Rove might be shattered. He totally didn't know Valerie Wilson was a covert agent. No really. Innocent man, right there.

That's all the soap boxing I can afford, today. I will now watch downloaded episodes of Justice League and dream of a world where people actually believe in truth and justice. And I will also dream of ostrich burgers.
