Herman Melville Was A Jerk

Herman Melville Was A Jerk

If I Had The Wings Of The Gull...

I'm sitting here in Bristol, relaxing, drinking wine and watching the Red Sox beat the Indians (with any luck), and I'm praising the marvels of technology that allow me to bring my computer down here, and still work on and update the comic. If this wasn't such a mobile operation, I'd never be able to go anywhere again.

The return of Moby Dick is in part due to the recent talk about whaling coming back. Personally, I can't help but feel there is something barbaric about hunting down things who's brains are ridiculously larger than ours. I mean, if it weren't for their lack of opposable thumbs, they'd be unstoppable. I'm beginning to think the whales have reached the cranial capacity to mentally dominate the world leaders into legislating in favor of cetacean survival. Look at the recent trends... Global warming? Whales are more comfortable in more water. America destroys life on earth's surface? Fewer humans to pollute whale property. Patriot Act? Whales want to know what you read.

The other big factor is my obsession with the song "The Weary Whaling Grounds" as performed by a little group called Warp Four. That's right. Sea Shanties. It's inspiring, it's motivating, it's designed to make you work.

But that's enough out of me.
