Gas on a Fire

Gas on a Fire

I Watched The News Today, Oh Boy...

... and I saw Lou Dobbs on CNN, and he was all in a bunch about Mexicans being arrogant and thinking they are entitled to enter the United States. Aside from my initial reaction of loathing for a pundit who wears the trappings of news anchor, he astounded me with his wonderfully non-leading opinion poll, "Can you think of any reason a U.S. citizen would believe a Mexican citizen has the right to legally cross the border without passing through customs?" Aside from "Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yadda yadda", I can't think of much reason they would, but the phrasing bugs the hell out of me. So here's my poll question.

Can you think of any reason a 'journalist' or 'person with a shred of dignity' would phrase the question "Can you think of any reason a U.S. citizen would believe a Mexican citizen has the right to legally cross the border without passing through customs?" instead of "Does a Mexican citizen have the right to legally cross the border without passing through customs?"

Maybe my webmaster will make that a real poll. If he doesn't by the time you read this, he needs to GET BACK TO WORK! Er... I mean... Uh... Keep being the nicest person ever for hosting my site? Lord Paco, here's a present just for you.

Lies intended for you to believe without questioning:
Bush authorized wire-tapping in reaction to 9/11.
People get convicted of stealing media via P2P programs.
I have anything better to do than sit here and moralize.

Lastly, a fan of the comic, Michael Garrett (gasp! you aren't the only one!), extended Belph's poem from my first attempt to get lyrical on the interweb. I give it now to you that enjoy blasphemy. If you don't enjoy blasphemy, there may be hope for your immortal soul, but you read this, so maybe it's a lost cause.

Jesus Rises

Blood rains, as people die
The gore spatters, as corpses fly

Buildings smoke, as they blaze alight
Screams of pain tear through the night

Jesus staggers, through the street
Rending skin, so he may eat

He enters the church, the priest therein
Prays ‘Jesus, Lord, Forgive my sin!’

The praying falls, upon deaf ears
This confirms, a priests worst fears

The viscera spills, across the floor
Even as Jesus, makes for the door.

He turns to you! With a baleful moan
A deep chill hits you, down to the bone.

He begins to move, and yet, you don’t
Your body doesn’t do it, it can’t it won’t

And so Jesus saves, your flesh to taste
Because the son of God’s not one to waste

Roses are red, violets are blue
Jesus is dead... And so are you.
